On October 24, 2024, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of ULK Gisenyi, Lecturer Hagumimana Frank, officially inaugurated a training program organized by the Legal Aid Forum (LAF) in Rwanda. This initiative, themed “Training of Law Students on Legal Performance Standards,” aims to enhance the legal skills of aspiring lawyers and equip them to better serve their communities.
During the opening ceremony,Lecturer Hagumimana Frank warmly welcomed both trainers and trainees, emphasizing the significance of the training in boosting legal proficiency among law students. He highlighted that this initiative aligns with ULK’s mission to foster legal knowledge and promote access to justice.
“Today marks an important milestone in our commitment to developing legal professionals who are not only knowledgeable but also dedicated to serving the community,” Lecturer. Hagumimana stated. He expressed gratitude to the trainers for their dedication and commitment to imparting their expertise to the students.
The training will be conducted by two esteemed members of the Legal Aid Forum: Twiringiyimana Theogene, who oversees Legal Aid Services, and Lawyer Mukeshimana Marie Louise. Both trainers addressed the participants, outlining the practical outcomes expected from the training and the valuable skills that students will acquire.
“This training is designed to provide you with the essential tools to navigate the legal landscape effectively,” Twiringiyimana emphasized. “We aim to empower you to make a tangible difference in your communities through your legal practice.”
The collaboration between ULK Gisenyi and the Legal Aid Forum reflects a shared commitment to improving legal education and expanding access to legal services in Rwanda. As the training progresses, students are expected to gain invaluable insights and practical skills that will serve them well in their future careers.
