Mr. Karara Alexandre
Head of Department, School of Social Sciences

School of Social Sciences

The School of Social Sciences at ULK was established to address the increasing demand for social science education, supported by a pool of qualified lecturers and the vision to prepare competent professionals to serve the nation.

Our Foundation

The creation of this School was due to several reasons: the demand from a large number of prospective students, the existence of qualified lecturers in these fields of science in Rwanda, and the willingness to provide the country with executives well trained in social sciences.

Academic Programmes

The School’s academic programmes aim at providing students with education and training in Sociology, Population Studies (Demography), and Administrative Sciences. These programmes target local realities as far as possible and include theoretical teachings, practical work, and internships, which provide students with both theory and practice in their fields of interest.

Learning Outcomes

Students will learn to master the concepts, fundamental principles, and methods specific to one of the three fields taught; conduct critical analysis on various research problems and develop operational solutions; and work effectively in both public and private organizations.

N.B: All courses are taught in English.
